On most days I rarely put much thought into my outfits. I wake up after pressing the snooze button at least nine times and just focus on smelling good (because I like to hug people) and having a flawlessly beat face. I think I have mastered the last one.

But there’s something about New York Fashion Week that brings out the style blogger in me. It could be the fact that all of my blogger boyfriends (aka my blogger girlfriends) are laying out their looks on their freshly polished wooden floors and posting them on Instagram for everyone to double tap. Peer pressure is a M-tha F–ker!

Normally I don’t conform into the world’s needs to see fancy clothes on girls but during the one week were everyone is paying close attention to what’s in your closet, I give in!

If you follow me on social media (or you are my real life friend) then you know that I wasn’t really feeling NYFW this season. It’s not like before when I would travel to New York from Baltimore and spend all week going to shows and lounges. There were no real deadlines back then. And I didn’t have a boss anxiously waiting to review my content.

My grind is way different now.

I was/am overwhelmed with EVERYTHING that I have going on. I hosted two events, updated three sites with style & beauty content and attended at least 20 shows. After day two I was done!

But there’s something about a canary yellow midi skirt and a stripped crop top that will bring you out of your funk! AND I think it’s my lucky top now. When I saw Beyonce’s stylist, Ty Hunter he totally knew who I was *screams and body rolls down your computer screen*.

Meanwhile can we get a few hand claps for Ty’s mighty mouse suit. It takes a confident stylista to bring that character out of retirement.

When I debuted this skirt at an event I hosted earlier this summer I knew this would be a hit. That crop top though…I was unsure about her. Mainly because at 37 (almost 38) I wasn’t sure if a crop top was an appropriate item of clothing for me.

But somewhere along the way, after the loads of comments I received, I remembered it was the right choice and perhaps I don’t care that much about what society thinks a fly 37-year-old mother of one should or should not be wearing.

So here’s to dressing however you’d like, whenever you like, even if you don’t feel like getting dressed at all.

First and foremost – congrats!! On wearing a crop top in public and having Beyonce’s stylist recognize you! (I would have PASSED OUT…especially since I’m anonymous…*lol*) My tummy is not fit for public consumption so…yeah, you go girl! LOL! Also I didn’t know you were a mom…that makes me admire your hustle all the more!
