As soon as the last leaf falls you can cue in everyone’s seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Yes it’s a real thing, Google it. But for time’s sake it’s just like it sounds, people are depressed because it’s cold outside. In New York it’s such a struggle because it feels like the fun has been snatched right from under us. There are no more rooftop parties, the street festivals have disappeared and we suddenly remember we are living on an island surrounding by the chill of the Hudson River!
To combat the winter vibe, here are some tips to stay motivated and bring some sunshine to your world.
Summer Rules Still Apply!
Am I the only one who completely stops shaving and lotioning up things you can’t see because now I have to put on snow boots to keep my feet warm? I’d be ashamed but I know this is a no-judgment zone. But, that all stops this year. I’m gonna send a thank-you note to the folks who created my new favorite razor, BIC® Soleil®. Beyond the fact that these disposable razors offer up a flawlessly smooth shave, they are mad cute and stylish and come in a 3-pack, in pink, purple and green! No more stubbly legs this winter.
The quickest way to get over the winter blues and add some sunshine into your life is to buy some new clothes. Or shoes. Or accessories. I mean, just go you and buy something. You can take it as far as buying a yellow dress, (cue some color inspiration from those razors) or simple just add some color. While I love a good beige sweater or chocolate scarf, there’s nothing wrong with add a pair a red shoes to brighten your day.
I am happy to report that I am fearlessly typing away from my villa in St. Croix. In a perfect world we’d all have winter homes in Florida (or here in the Virgin Islands) that we’d run away to the minute the “hawk” started to scream our names — #LifeGoals. Until we get there, it’s totally worth it to take a breather from your hometown, if only for a weekend, and explore a beachfront resort.
