EDITOR’S NOTE: This post is from 2011
Finally after months of debating my thoughts, asking my boyfriend and besties, and bugging my mentors and tweethearts for help renaming my little itty bitty blog – it came to me!
So we were sitting on the hotel bed in Manhattan during NYFW (back in 2010), trying to relax and catch up on what’s happening outside of the Lincoln Center. A headline popped across the TV screen during the Today Show – GORGEOUS AND GREY.
Insert whistles and bells and my glorious ah-ha moment.
The segment highlighted women who greyed early, like me, and how gorgeous and healthy their hair was, like mine. All the women featured were under 40 with a full head of grey hair. I instantly said that’s what my blog will be, Gorgeous and Grey. Well, of course, I debated about it for two weeks and when I went to purchase the domain name it wasn’t available. Along came Gorgeous ‘In’ Grey. Which I think is totally better anyways.
I’ve spent what felt like forever searching and then working on the template and a new logo. My switch to WordPress wasn’t as easy as I had imagined. The template that I had stalked for months wasn’t as customizable as the instructions tried to explain. Just like HeyBella (my blog name before GIG), Gorgeous In Grey will still give you tons of fashion and beauty with a
little lot of random thoughts in between.
I will still keep Hey Bella Blog for now. I have some ideas for her too. But please show some love for my new baby and tell all of your friends. A special uber uber thanks to all that helped in my decision ESPECIALLY my bf (now husband) and my besties. If you’ve been reading my blog you know that they mean the world to me.
EDIT: I didn’t keep Hey Bella Blog because it just didn’t make sense. The name had zero to nothing to do with my personal brand so I let it rest somewhere in the slums of Internet trash. If you’ve been with me since 2010 you know Gorgeous In Grey has grown beyond our dreams of a little itty bitty space on the Internet. Almost a decade later and y’all are still rocking with your girl. A lot of people ask me what my motivation is and how I keep going. It’s you! I love meeting you all, I love chatting with you all on the Internet. This is our home and I cannot imagine not waking up every day, every week spilling my guts out to you. So…
Love you guys to the moon and back!
