It’s hard to believe that my wedding is in less than 3 weeks. Guys, in wedding language that’s basically tomorrow. And even though I’ve been planning since the moment I got engaged last year and I have lists and notes plastered everywhere in my office I still feel so unprepared. I’m officially overloaded with information on wedding hacks and must haves and must dos. I’ve read a million articles on how to plan your own wedding (which all basically said “You’re crazy, get a wedding planner!”). I’ve listened to about four different podcasts that are just dedicated to weddings and I’ve even joined about 19 Facebook groups geared to help me get hitched without a hitch. So out of everything I’ve consumed here’s my conclusion on what you will need for your wedding day.
My dress is a custom design from Pantora Bridal. We spent about two hours on the design before I finally said yes to the sketch. It’s so gorgeous. If I were the kind of girl that dreamed of wedding days, this would be that dress. So naturally, I am super protective of my dress. I really don’t even wanna sit down. In my mind, I’m going to stand up the whole wedding in a perfect bride -like stance that will get me through the night without makeup kissy stains or my own nervous/excited/exhausted sweat.
Since I know I that ain’t gonna happen, I’m practicing my air kisses and spirit fingers. I’ve also stocked up on some Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant. Every article I’ve read said that every bride (and her bride tribe) should have on antiperspirant and stay away from solids and gels. Most wedding dresses are ruined and soiled by your own sweat. Normally when white marks happen women (57 percent according to Dove) try washing them out but ultimately end up changing looks. Well, there’s no option for changing your look on your wedding day. When faced with white marks, 57 percent of women report trying to wash them out, while ultimately 1 in 3 women say they’ve had to change their outfit completely. Lucky for me, I’ve got the perfect wedding dress ally in Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant.
A huge part of my planning was figuring out how to honor my mother at my wedding. My mother earned her wings and her cozy spot in Heaven four years ago and my life hasn’t been the same since. But I didn’t want our wedding day to be filled with tears and sad faces so I tabled the idea of a tribute because an empty chair at our ceremony would have driven me to my own grave. But at my bridal shower, my aunt secretly got with my dad and bought me my mother’s favorite perfume. And by favorite I mean my dad bought this perfume for my mother every single Christmas. But now my challenge was how to smell like my mommy for eight hours. Well, I read that if you rub vaseline on your pulse points before spraying your perfume it will last longer. #Genius
I’m already overwhelmed. I’m already mentally and financially drained. I’m already over it all. But when I count my blessings I can’t even be any of that anymore. So on my wedding day, I will do what needs to be done to get back to the space of gratitude. It might be a glass of wine. It might be a dance party with my bride tribe. It might be sneaking a moment with my future husband. Whatever it is, I’ll be putting me and my husband first on 9/16/2017.
