Hey Beauties, Nicole here!

The dryness and brutality of winter will suck the life out of your hair out. But you may be further assisting the damage when you think your protecting it via protective styling. Your first instinct maybe to find a protective style like braids or a sew-in which isn’t a bad option but in this weather, we need to take special care of our hair, and edges, or come summer we may not have any and who want’s that.

Unlike that ex-boyfriend that keeps coming back like a bad habit, once your edges are gone, they are gone for good.

Here’s 10 things that will stop your edges from living that good life:

The summer really dried out my hair. I don’t know what it was, but I couldn’t condition it enough or add enough butters or creams so it wouldn’t be so dry. I’m a very low-maintenance natural. I find the products that work for me — which are never very much — and that’s it.

Now that summer is over, I’ve tried something new that’s got my hair right. Enter Creme of Nature with Argan Oil Butterlicious Curls.

Being natural can be tough at times. The shade is real and it comes from everywhere, even other naturalistas. For the most part, the natural community is made up of people that build each other up. Having a support system is a necessity for your natural hair journey. What would you do if someone in your family, let’s say a spouse or significant other was your main hater?  Would someone actually leave the one they loved because of how that person choose to wear their hair? Well, it has and does happen. The story I am about to share is true; however names have been changed to protect the innocent (I’ve secretly always wanted to write that).

After five years of growing my natural hair, I began to obsess over length retention and hair growth! I hated this crazy natural hair obsession, so I decided to get my shiny shears and create a new style that reflected who I am as a woman.

The above title should pretty much explain what this post is about. It was also the cute quirky name of the event I was invited to hosted by Motions Hair and their Global Brand Ambassador, celebrity hair stylist — Ursula Stephen.

In case you don’t know, she’s the hands behind Rihanna’s fabbbuuulooouuus hair. Here recently she’s done the red carpet looks for Kerry Washington and Gabrielle Union. So I was pretty stoked and I will brag and say that I sat next to her. We chatted it up about hair tips, relationships, and we even got a chance to get a sneak of VH1’s Storytellers with Jill Scott before it aired.

During the event, Motions asked us “When did you first fall in love with your hair?” Check out my video of some of the blogger’s answers and chime in (via my comments) and let me know when YOU 1st fell in love with your hair.

My natural hair will not get the best of me! This is what I’m chanting to stay away from the creamy crack aka relaxing my hair. You readies know that it’s been a struggle and my naturalistas can relate even more. It seems like I’m constantly trying new product and my curls are always changing — daily.

So I was kinda excited to be one of 10 bloggers invited to a luncheon hosted by Motions Naturally You products and their global ambassador, celebrity hair stylist Ursula Stephens (yep I got to meet Rihanna’s hair stylist).  View Full Post
