DIY Diary: Yep, I Kinda Love Sally Hansen’s Salon Gel Polish™

sally hansen product review - gorgeousingrey-fi

Y’all know I was super dope excited when I found out I got to try out Sally Hansen’s Salon Gel Polish™. I mean, I am the DIY chick that just happens to be in love with painting her nails every other day. And this was right on time for all my fancy NY holiday parties. (I’ve been to one every day this week fyi!)

Besides the fact that I was excited they sent over a gorge red color, the Sally Hansen Salon Gel Polish Starter Kit gives you everything you need to get professional nails without breaking your wallet.

Your starter kit will cost you $69.99 –  Sally says you will get at least 10 manicures out of it. That’s a steal right there. It includes all basics that your salon girl uses; 1 LED Lamp, 1 Gel Base Coat, 1 Gel Nail Color, 1 Gel Top Coat, 10 Nail Cleanser Pads, 1 Acetone Remover, 1 Cuticle Stick, 1 File & Buffer and 1 Instruction Sheet for a quick and easy step-by-step guide.

But here’s what the 1 sheet doesn’t tell you.

  1. Complete the gel polish steps one hand at a time.
  2. Do your four fingers first and then your thumb.
  3. Shake the bottle each time before your paint.
  4. Apply thin coats of polish.
  5. Apply 2 coats for a nice even color.
  6. Cap the top of your nails with polish to secure.
  7. Remove any access polish from your skin to prevent the polish from lifting later.
  8. Be sure to wipe the nails with the provided wipes.

I managed to mess up the first time and kinda sorta the second time too. But if you catch your mistakes before its cures you can just peel off and start over again.

So would I buy… totally! For the price you pay for real life gel manicures (plus tips) it’s totally worth it And I am always for any product that allow you to have some me time and pamper yourself. A DIY gel manicure–You fancy!

Sally Hansen’s Salon Gel Polish™ is a professional at-home gel system that delivers the salon experience at a great value. Compared to regular nail polish, this gel polish gives you high-gloss, mirror shine color that lasts for up to 2 weeks without dry time, chipping and smudging. It’s never been so easy to get a salon manicure at home – saving you time and money! Get up to 10 gel manicures in a starter kit! sally hansen

Had a Question, The sally’s beauty store in my area has other gel polish colors, I was wondering if the lamp can be used with other gel brands?
