Plus size wedding dress shopping can be daunting! Finding a bridal salon that has plus size samples is one of those tasks you don’t even want your enemies to have to take on. When I first got engaged my friend said you have to check out this bridal salon (thanks Juanita). So she tagged me in a post from Pantora Bridal and for all the obvious reasons I feel in love with this bridal salon.
(1) It’s a Black woman owned salon.
Take all my money lady. I am so here for Black Girl Magic, y’all just don’t understand.
(2) It caters to our melanin.
When I was researching dresses and saving pictures there was one common look that drove me crazy. I was so stick of seeing those sheer ghostly white/beige bodices. But at Pantora, the sheer is for us. Lots of cocoas, chocolates and caramels hunty!
So I paid the $10 booking fee (reluctantly, I mean I know it’s just $10 but I’m cheap) and gathered my squad for my first wedding dress shopping experience.
In my mind I had a clear vision of what I wanted to wear. I wanted a trumpet dress with ruffles. I didn’t want anything strapless because… dem thangs need support. And I didn’t want a ball gown.
After yesterday I have no clue of what I want.
The trumpet and mermaid dresses do not, I repeat do not, allow you to move. My thighs have never been that close and I don’t think any amount of chub rub spray or whatever would soothe that irritation for me. The strapless dresses were actually flattering and I love how it really highlighted Ella (my tattoo). The ball gown was so girly. I thought that I would hate it but it really channelled all my soft and pink Cinderella emotions (more like Cindy but you get it).
Either way, I am pretty sure I want a fit and flare dress. So my next dress fitting I will try more of those on. I haven’t decided where I’m getting a dress from but here’s my day with Pantora in 9 mins. Watch all 9 mins, I promise you will be entertained.
If you’re a new bride (and happen to be Black) I beg of you to try Pantora Bridal. She’s BAE. Also if you liked this post you can thank me by leaving a comment or sharing this post on social media.
