the jungle book

I remember watching The Jungle Book as a child. Back then, I wasn’t aware of the life lessons that existed in this movie. It was all about the “bear necessities”. Tell me you don’t know that song?!

Fast forward to today and the movie represents so much more. Thanks to Disney I was able to see an advanced screening of the movie. Because of today’s technology this movie is by far the most visually appealing movie that I’ve ever experienced. And I truly hate 3D (like split pea soup, yuck!). But this was more than that. It’s truly an experience. From the state of the art sound, to the moments were you low-key believe that you and Mowgli are on this 3 hour excursion together.

If you haven’t seen this movie, you and I can’t be real friends. You need to catch up. In the meantime, check out this dinner conversation we (a bunch of really fabulous writers and bloggers) had after our movie experience.  View Full Post

caress forever queen collection

I’m the kind of girl who likes to smell good. I mean duh, right. But I like to smell good all the time! Like, I low key have an attitude when I forget to put on perfume or I’ve run out of body washes that smell like heaven and fluffy clouds. I go all out with my fragrance choices because I adore smell goods. Body washes, lotions, oils, perfume–I layer it all over my body, every day! You can only imagine what my daily “get ready” routine is like.

Apparently there’s an easier way!

I remember my first Mother’s Day without my mother (if you’re a new reader, she went to Heaven in 2013). Holidays and birthdays were torture for me. Christmas is still a doozy because my mother adored that holiday. Like, her adoration brought out the most obnoxious decorations imaginable.

But Mother’s Day was that “if you’re available” kind of holiday. She didn’t make a big stink about it, so “if I was available” I’d come home for her infamous homemade Maryland crab cakes, fried cabbage and potato salad. When she passed I deeply missed that option of “if you’re available” come enjoy my company and grub on my infamous homemade Maryland crab cakes, fried cabbage and potato salad.

Through my grieving process, I realized that I had to re-imagine the love my mother and I had shared.  View Full Post

Ty Alexander Backlight-2

Everyone has someone in their family who is a faux photographer who has gone out and spent a little bit of their savings to grab the latest and greatest in photography equipment. Well folks, that’s me!

So much so that my friends have officially dubbed me the “Instagram selfie queen.” I have been in love with photographs since… forever! I can remember sitting for hours looking at old black and white photos of my family trying to guess the moments that happened before. Photographs are our sneak peek into the past. It’s how we keep our family memories alive.

The funny part about my love for pictures is that, while I’ve collected a few lighting equipment essentials, some of my best photographs have come from natural lighting. There are so many ways to creatively use natural light to add power and drama to your images. Whether you’ve just purchased your first DSLR or you’re making magic happen with your iPhone, here are a few tips that will help you create incredible photos no matter what type of natural light you have access to. SK II Facial Treatment

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by SK-II through their partnership with POPSUGAR. While I was compensated by POPSUGAR to write a post about SK-II, all opinions are my own.

In my mind perfect skin just sort of happens, no work is needed. You know, it’s in my genes! Well, I also believe in fairies and unicorns (please don’t try to tell me otherwise). In the real world, we know that perfect skin requires good products and daily work. It’s something that you start doing before the wrinkles and the puffy bags form and commit to a cozy spot on your face (read: a good skin care regimen should be in place before you turn 40).

But if your mother wasn’t like mine and didn’t drill the importance of taking care of your skin, I’ve got good news for you. There are a few products on the market that can help you along the way and improve your skin regimen even if you are late to the party.
