Bibhu Monaparta (pronounced Bee-boo Mow-ha-patra) launched his first collection in 2009 and has been doing red carpets ever since. The former design director at J.Mendel now runs his studio out of the CFDA’s Incubator space in Midtown.
The theme for this collection was “opposites, contrast, and ritual”. Bibhu did an excellent job combining the dark with the light side. In a recent interview he said that he visits the graveyards and reads the inscriptions on the tomb stones. Weird huh, but he’s a Gemini, LOL.
