In just a few days (Sept 8th), V Magazine will drop it’s latest issue which includes a 72 page editorial tribute to Liz Taylor. Just from the few images that I found I instantly fell in love with this imagery. Each of images embody the gorgeous spirit of Liz Taylor and a few of them I really thought were just old images of her. Photographer Mario Testino and fashion god and former Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld have totally taken the word tribute to it’s literal meaning – exactly copied; realistic as opposed to abstract or impressionistic.
I’M A HUGE OLD TIME PHOTO FAN. From the sneak peek I’ve seen, it appears that Carine and Mario really have just recreated monumental images of Liz Taylor. In a tribute this is even more important than just finding a look-a-like subject to shoot. Memories are built via images so it’s necessary to create that same memory in a tribute.
It’s 72 pages… what would I not love about that. The time it takes for my brain to create a spread of just 6 pages its frustrating. SO I have the utmost respect and love for a team who can drum up 72 pages of fabulousness!
Pencil skirts, sequins, and clutches. Three of my favorite fashion garments. Aside from that grandma smelly perfume, Liz Taylor was a HUGE fashionista who stayed fly and current in luxury labels. I cannot wait to see what labels Carine has selected to create this tribute.
