I’ve been natural for a little over two years and since I decided to chop all my hair off in 2011, I’ve embraced every bit of this natural hair movement as my own. No matter the style of my hair, going natural has totally changed the perception of what I feel is beautiful. But going heat free? Naw shawty! I get soooo bored with same hairstyle (which is crazy since I could eat pizza everyday). I at least need to be able to switch from curly to straight.
Over brunch, I was introduced to the oh-so-fab Ngozi Opara from N-ZO Hair Studios, a Washington DC based salon that emphasizes the importance of protective styling through all of its services. Her genius creation–The Heat Free Hair Movement–is a protective style initiative inspired by the thousands of women that use sew-in weaves as their protective style of choice, but are limited to styles that require them to heat straighten their hair for the purpose of blending with their style. I think Sheryl Underwood should/could eat her words because women are dying for nappy hair now!
