When “Sex And The City” aired on HBO, I was going beyond broke paying for my son’s private schooling, and couldn’t imagine spending not a single dime on premium cable. I had heard the buzz about the show for a few years, but it never mattered to me–that is, until the first movie was released.

So one rainy weekend, my besties sat me down for a weekend long SATC marathon, equipped with bottles of cheap wine, that stretched well past that weekend.

I was convinced that the writers had torn a few pages out of my diary and built their characters around my life. Minus the VOGUE byline, and Manolo Blahniks with a swanky closet to match, Carrie was so me. Head over heels for a man who wasn’t quite ready yet, all while battling the judgement-filled love of her best friends.

In the end Carrie got Big… and so did I. Of course I own the SATC 20-disc complete set, and I still go back to relive that love story. Few will know what it’s like to fight for love, give up on love, and have the same love find you again. I would do it all again for the love I’ve found.

I wonder if Carrie would too?

We’re just two weeks away from the actual release date of the Michelle Obama Vogue cover for April 2013. Somehow the Internet Gods, or some clueless intern at Conde Nast, leaked these images tonight.

I’m thankful! Our FLOTUS called on a few of her fave designers, Reed Krakoff and Michael Kors, to dress her–while legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz captured her in every stunning way (as only Annie could).

I’d like to go on record as saying that this totally trumps her debut in Vogue, back in March of 2009. Although maybe I’m just smitten with MO and those bangs?

The Harlem Shake craze has totally consumed the Google search tab. There are already thousands of videos uploaded to Youtube by major companies, news sites, blogs–it’s everywhere!

Supermodels Jourdan Dunn, Rosie Tapner, Cara Delevingne filmed their version of the viral video backstage before the Topshop show at London Fashion Week. It’s clearly a remix since the editing of the 1st and 2nd parts of the video don’t change and there is no crazy looking costumes involved.

Since Beyonce is notoriously private with everything in her life coupled with the fact the her PR team has to be a group of geniuses, she responded with just a picture. No words, nothing!

Just enough for us to assume.

At my job, we debate heavily on pop culture and life happenings–all day! So when Beyonce‘s GQ cover leaked last night it was the talk of the morning when I got to work. From “she ain’t have no damn baby”, to “as a new mommy, she really shouldn’t be on magazine covers half naked”, the comments were deep and hours later we were still yapping about it.

My boss asked us all to chime in on this now controversial cover. You may be surprised at my comment but… 

Well, here’s why I hate that I love it so much (don’t forget to chime in the comment sections!).

So, we all really believe Blue Ivy was birthed from the ‘oh great and powerful one’ better known as Beyonce. This will always be an on-going debate for me. But what’s not up for debate is how stunning this chic looks on everything. It’s like someone sprinkled magic love-me-forever dust all over everything King Bey does. I mean, Beyonce ain’t even as cute as Beyonce, but we still co-sign for every song, magazine cover and even her not-so-awesome clothing line.

This why I don’t even question GQ’s headline, “The 100 Sexiest Women Of The 21st Century: Starting With Beyonce.” Are we just programmed to believe in everything Beyonce does, even if it’s bullsh*t? Rihanna’s GQ cover held a much higher crush value that lived way deep in my soul (I still gaze over her under boobs), but yet I scurried the internet for hours last night looking for more Beyonce images.

If I really have to give my honest opinion and leave my biased stan thoughts in my back pocket–it’s a bit trashy for the likes of Beyonce’s perfect cookie cutter image, but I guess even Bey knows that sex sells!

Seen Beyonce’s new Pepsi promotion pics?! #AHMAZEBALLS!

Besides the fact that we have no clue who Beyonce really is, you have no real reason to hate on the Queen B. She’s proven that she’s an ah-mazing performer, it’s also clear that her closet (or her stylist on demand) is the biz-ness and she named her baby after the 2nd best color in the box (purple is the best btw) and not a soul questioned her.

These pics, which I first peeped on NYTimes, serves as a little pre-hype visual for her upcoming performance on the Superbowl. Not only will we get a performance from Mrs. Carter, but there’s a commercial too. And you know Baddie Bey is in the studio working on some new tunes so we’ll probably hear more the “Crazy In Love”. I’m geeked a little bit.

Oprah has certainly become the over sharer these days, hasn’t she?

Word on twitter is that Shonda Rhimes and Kerry Washington will be on Oprah’s Next Chapter. I can imagine Oprah will ask Kerry a ton of “Scandal” related questions. Oprah will also probably ask Shonda about her creativity process and her thoughts on how black women are portrayed on television. But I have some very basic questions that I would ask both Kerry and Shonda.. if I were Oprah.

Let’s start with Kerry…

1. Are you a vegetarian? I mean she’s lost so much weight. It’s my only answer for her waif-ness!
2. What happened to your edges? IDK why yall act like you don’t see them. Or wait, you don’t! But yall act like they are really there. She’s such a great actress. I really want her to work on restoring those edges!

And I would surely ask Shonda…

1. Why did you kill off so many characters on Grey’s Anatomy? Did we really need to kill Lexy, McSteamy, and cut off both of Arizona’s legs? 
2. Why does Bailey always rock a bad wig? Does it demonstrate the struggle of her character? As if being natural isn’t hard enough you have to go and put a wig over it. 
3. Are you hiring? I’m a pretty decent writer with an active imagination. I like to think I am funny. I also fetch an amazing cup of Starbucks. #IJS

Yep I think that’s it. Obviously my questions are meant to make you laugh (and I know you did) and are by no means what I would really ask the two if I were given such an amazing opportunity.

But seriously. I would definitely pick Shonda’s brain and get more information on how she comes up with such amazing scribes. Like, does she have a special pen. I do. Not sure if it’s working but luck always makes for a good story.

Chrisette Michele has a new look and new music. As a newbie to the red carpet interview scene, I will admit I was hella nervous, my hands were sweaty and shaky. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for the slick answers that Chrisette Michele  mumbled with her seductive voice. 

Rocking a simple pair of skinny jeans, a jean jacket, and a new cut that I am seriously swooning over, we chatted a bit (approximately three minutes) at Keith Campbell’s book launch.

Although she was quiet she was fiercely fabulous. She shared her break-up tips, what she’d bring on a dessert island, and what she hates about herself. Check for the interview on Hello Beautiful.

Thank you Jesus! Finally my style crush Solange Knowles has a song that I can nod my head to while on the A train! Oh what a banging beat, some auto tune, and amazing styling can do for ya!

The video was shot in South Africa and was directed by Melina Matsoukas. It tells a fun playful story of a Beyonce-esque younger sister twirling and two stepping about Cape Town. From the teaser last week I knew I would love this song. I am HAPPY Solange is finally producing something of substance! And the fashion — you can thank Ty Hunter, Beyonce’s long time stylist. Queen B is everywhere!
