Since the first National Wear Red Day 10 years ago, the Go Red For Women foundation has made tremendous strides in the fight against heart disease in women.

I’m all about supporting great causes any way you can to raise awareness. Of course giving money will always be the number source for change when it comes to research, but sometimes using your influence is just as valuable.

Today I decided to participate and rock my Sally Jesse inspired red glasses from Lookmatic. I actually dug way deep down inside of my suitcase to find these. I forgot how much fun these are! I got sooo many compliments on the train today. I responded with saying, “It’s National Wear Red Day”. Most replied with a confused look, but quite a few girls knew exactly what it was. For those confused souls I simple education them on the cause.

See! That’s how you spread awareness. LOL.

Me and my work boos are about to embark in some serious shredding of the fat. We somehow signed up for Dr. Ian Smith‘s fitness challenge, in association with his new book “Shred Revolutionary Diet: 6 Weeks, 2 Inches, 2 Sizes”.

The cash money prize might have a little something to do with it, LOL!

The six-week plan combines meal spacing, snacking, meal replacement, strategic exercise, and diet confusion tips which should basically change our lives. In short–if I follow this plan to a “T” I should be at least 2 inches/2 sizes smaller. The team all weighs in on Monday (after the Super Bowl over-eating occurs)… that should be an interesting post to write.

I haven’t gotten on a scale since life begin to move at a race car speed. SOOOOO wish me luck, and of course I will keep you beauties updated with my meals, workouts, and per usually… my rants! 

We are all so very excited for this challenge!

Loaded with lots of up’s and a few down’s (or maybe I should just call them challenges), last year was one for the books as my elders would say.

I was on TV quite a bit (three times to be exact), I moved to NY, and then just before all of that greatness happened–my mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma (I have yet to write about it, but I will).

Yep that basically sums up my 2012. But surprisingly even after the news of my mother’s new challenge, I am still so beyond joyous for this journey we call life.

So when I thought of what my 2013 resolutions should be, I realized I had already begun working on a lot of them. I just hadn’t wrote them down or even committed them to memory. So here’s go. Really for my own reminder of sorts, and perhaps for you as inspiration!

 Gratitude: When my mother was diagnosed with cancer I was overwhelmed with feelings. From anger, to confusion, to sadness. But some where within the first five minutes of the news, I realized that God can’t possible hate my mother or my family. He won’t have us travel down this incredibly, almost insanely, difficult path without a purpose. So in order for me NOT to flip all the way over and out from watching my mother’s body deteriorate into nothingness, I had to find gratitude in this journey.

First I realized how many people never get to have a relationship with their parents. And here I have an amazing relationship with both of mine. And when I thought about the woman I had become, it was all my mother’s doing. From how I spoke to people, how I styled my hair, even to how I perceive my own beauty. It’s because of our conversations that I am who I am today. 

So I don’t want to waste ANY time thinking about how different she looks now, or how angry I am that it happened to her, I just cherish the moments I get to spend with her. I am grateful that even as bad as it may seem, I can still make her laugh. She still smiles when I walk in the room. So I will continue to focus on those things. 

 Purpose: I’ve been searching for what my purpose was for what seems like my whole life. My biggest question was, what do I want to do with the rest of my life? And then I realized that I was thinking about it way too hard. That my purpose was simple… to inspire and impact people to live. Whether it’s to inspire you to quit your job and move to New York… well that might not be your story, lol. But I might inspire you to try that pink lipstick I love so much, or travel to watch your first Broadway play. Who knows!

But I’ve come to realize I find great pleasure in inspiring you! So going into 2013, I’ll aim to inspire most people I interact with. 

 Faith: Oh yea about that… it only takes a mustard seed of it, right! I remember reading that scripture as a girl and not having one clue of what it meant. Somewhere when I got fed up with working for the government I replaced my fear with faith. But I noticed it wasn’t a one time action. I just couldn’t say “I got faith” and then be blessed abundantly.

I had to stop thinking about faith and really believe in it. I literally starting to replace the word think with believe. I believed that I could find a job that I loved in New York. I believed that could find a home for myself and the boo. So what can I believe to do in 2013. Sky’s the limit right?

Last night, I hung out with my blogger boos for an intimate girls night out on Broadway sponsored by Have To Have.

Even though I’m no Broadway buff, I was kinda geeked about the experience. And if I should ever make my “NY Bucket List” (full of tourist-y things I wanna do in NYC) I can officially cross off going to a Broadway play.

This global warming weather that we are experiencing was kinda perfect last night. I wore my leatherette jacket from Forever21, turquoise lace skater dress from Wet Seal, and my fave scarf that was gifted from Sophia Costas (scroll down to get my look).

There was a pizza party before hand that I sadly missed because I was slaving away at my keyboard at work. But I did get to met up with Meagan from Little Lime Dress, Tamara from The Curvy Socialite, & Kim from The Curvy Spot. LOVE THEM GALS! XO

Did you know a Coke and M&M’s on Broadway were $12! Sheesh. But it was so worth. The Heiress was an amazing play. I walked in thinking, three hours… oh hell, I’m leaving at intermission. But then the story got good, and I had to see who she ended up with in the end.

When Marie Claire columnist and oh-so-fab plus size blogger, Nicolette Mason, left me a direct message via Twitter requesting me for her second Today Show fashion segment I was way beyond stoked. I had just posted images of my Fox 45 segment and was flattered that she thought of me personally.

So my day began at 5am. Actually 5:40am! I pressed the snooze button in normal Ty fashion at least six times. Luckily I spent last night gathering my things for the am. After two fittings and four looks, Nicolette dressed me an ah-mazing look (all under $100) that I would totally rock from work to weekend!

It’s the day after Thanksgiving and I’m bored out of my mind. With nothing but 6 acres of land, cable tv, and leftovers at my parent’s house I am running out of things to do besides eat and watch TV. So I decided to turn Maddie on (my MacBook) and play for a while. I was checking emails and perusing my some fashion sites and I came across this fashion project on IFB. 

IFB is partnering with online eyewear retailer Lookmatic and challenged the blogging community to share with the world we live in. So here’s my entry/post of how I see things — through my eyes — via Instagram (in no particular order).

Ummmmmmmm, where do I begin. At the 5am wake up call, or my Star Jones spotting, or style expert Stacy London calling ME a trailblazer on national TV. I think right there is good, LOL.

Even though my time on the big screen lasted all of 1 minute and 48 seconds, being on the Today Show confirmed all the reasons why I moved to New York. I was reminded I didn’t move to New York to be some famous fashion blogger. I came to become a writer. And I did that! So with this post I give myself a HUGE hug and pat myself on the back. Because I am proud of me.

Oh the pursuit of happiness. I think that cliche needs an adjective like … everlasting. Because once you find happiness you have to know how to keep it. People never really school you on that thought. So I thought of 3 Life Tips For Living a Happy Life.

(Umm, I’m making a note of these for my vision board, I think I’m onto something)

1. Trash The Negative. Self Sabotage as Oprah calls it. It’s so easy to think yourself out of stuff. I could never move. I’ve always been fat. I’m not qualified for that position. Etc, Etc, Etc. The more years I accumulate on my life I realize that what I say out loud and even what I think really has a way of getting into the universe and manifesting. On the flip side, unfriend that chick who thinks you shouldn’t do this or that. The Debbie Downer in the crew will never want you to be happy — give her the boot asap. 

2. Accept The Fear In Life. Being fearless is extremely ambitious. And in most cases you will fail. Try accepting the fact you will be scared to quit your job and start a new career. But embrace it. Change is fabulous and it’s needed for growth. It is what gives us humility. It also makes for a great story to tell later. (Maybe I will write a book.) 

3. Ignore The Expectations of Society. I was talking about life and sh*t last night to my co-worker. It’s kinda crazy to me that I say things in conversation not even realizing the worth of my words. For the past few weeks my whole motto has been I’m Here For Me. Of course I’d love your approval on a lot of things. Approval means that I am right. But really the only person that needs to expect or accept anything from my life is … me. (So don’t expect that book any time soon.)

I swear once I turned 35 I truly realized what it meant to be happy. This whole Out with the Old, In the with New is a concept I can get used to for sure. And who said growing old was hard. I’m having the time of my life.
