Oh there’s so much to be THANKFUL for this holiday. I’ve had such an ah-mazing journey this year–filled with ups and downs but I’ve grown so much and learned tons about myself. I want to wish you all a very safe and joyous Thanksgiving holiday. Continue reading →
You may not believe me but being fierce is a new concept for me. Before I started blogging I was known as the Homey Helen of style to my BF. It wasn’t until I got older that I learned what being fierce actually meant.
Blogging is now so second nature to me, I almost forget how much of my personal life I share. So it’s weird when I see my readies out and you guys mention a post I did, or compliment me on what I wore to an event (months prior). The more popular my blog gets, it’s important for me to look the part … daily. So how do I stay fierce without compromise???
FIERCE style without compromise:
For me that means being prepared and comfortable in what I’m wearing. Although I don’t go a far as “setting out” my clothes for the next day. I take mental note of my options. Right down to where they are in my bedroom, lol. Having fierce style without compromise also means when I walk out of my door I am still me. Everyone knows, heels on me are rare. Usually I only rock them for birthdays and fancy dinners. So you won’t catch me at the mall in a pair of Loubs limping down the escalators. But you might see me at the market in my favorite purple Sam Edelman flats, a cardi, and some bright skinny jeans. The difference between style and fashion is that your style is totally yours and no one else’s. So be fierce in just knowing that.
FIERCE beauty without compromise.
I’ve always loved beauty. When I was in the 10th grade I was on “punishment” for a month because I stole my mother’s red lip and wore it to school. Problem was, it stained my lips and told on me while I was denying what I had done. My mother asked me, “Why are you trying so hard to be pretty when you already are?” I fought that question my entire HS life. I watched other girls wearing lip gloss and makeup, date boys, and become teen moms too. It wasn’t until my graduation day that I looked out into the crowd and spotted my mother. I realized in that moment that, in comparison to my peers, my mother’s beauty was so effortless. She didn’t spend countless hours putting on her face in the morning and she didn’t spend all Saturday at the salon getting dolled up.
What my mother taught me was priceless. How to manage my own hair and how to get dolled up on my terms. Finding your fierce beauty is similar to your style. It’s yours! And once you realize this … you shine.
FIERCE living without compromise.
This one is so simple. I am mad at myself that it took getting to my 30s to realize it. Figure out what makes you happy. Then figure out how to do what makes you happy all the time. Once you find that something, living life will be easier. There is a certain fierceness in a person who is living not just alive.
Q: So tell me, how are YOU staying fierce!

It’s pretty safe to say that I have a very healthy addiction to Instagram. It’s one of the very 1st things I check when I wake up, if I get bored while my boss is yapping I scroll down to see how much fun everyone else is having, and of course I share an occasional pic of what I’m wearing, my latest buys, or even that much needed after work cocktail.
Since Instagram came to Android (read that post here), there’s obviously been a boost in users. It can get a little tricky, as with any social media platform, figuring out who you really should be paying attention to and who doesn’t deserve a like. Since I’m a good sharing person, I decided to give you a jumpstart and list my fav IGers (that’s slang for Instagram Users, LOL) Continue reading →

Although I’ve picked out this little ole spot in the blogosphere that I call my own, I feel like there’s parts of me you don’t know. As secretive as I can be, as a blogger it’s important for you to know what kind of soda I like, and what side of my hair I usually part, and maybe that I whisper crazy things in my sleep. Well … maybe that’s a bit extreme but in order for us to bond and become online buddies you need to know a few random things about me. Here goes! Continue reading →
By now I would have thought that the Sh*t People Say videos who have died down. But the YouTubers keep getting creative and keep me laughing out loud in Panera Bread. I literally just spent an hour (kinda wasting time because I was suppose to be putting together my What to Wear posts) pressing the play button and searching for more.
Since I can’t be the only one watching these – wasting time – I have to share my favs with you. Continue reading →
