Kerry Washington was the evening’s big winner. The 36-year-old actress landed awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her work in the hit film “Django Unchained” and Best Actress in a Drama Series for her work on “Scandal”, which also won for Best Drama Series. She also was given the President’s Award for her humanitarian work and for breaking barriers for black women in television. Go Gladiators!
Kerry brought back a favorite trend of mine with her adorable color blocked gown. Although I kinda hate this gown via Oscar de la Renta, I just adore her and her pout so I just loved it anyway. It’s like when your girlfriend shows up for girls night out and she’s wearing a hideous sweater dress but you know you really want to wear it so you say nothing? Well kinda! LOL.
But what I did love was her hair! Kerry Washington stunned with gorgeous hair by celebrity stylist Marcus Francis, using products from Carol’s Daughter.
“Kerry’s Oscar de la Renta gown made a statement both with the pastel colors and the dramatic train. I wanted to keep the look soft and feminine, so having her hair half up with the clean texture created by the Carol’s Daughter products helped achieve that look while making it modern,” said Francis of the look he created for Washington.
To get the look, Francis:
Blow dried the hair with a round brush, adding a few drops of Carol’s Daughter Monoi Oil Sacred Strengthening Serum to the ends.
Flat ironed the hair from roots to ends to seal in the shine, adding in a small pump of Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer after flat ironing to lock in added moisture.
Sectioned out the top middle section, creating a clean part on either side of the head, then lightly teased a few sections at the front for height, and brushed using a Mason Pearson hair brush. Francis then blended the teased hair into the back of the head, keeping the sides clean and securing with two bobby pins underneath the hair on either side.
With a 1 1/4″ size curling iron, Francis curled the ends of medium-sized sections and held for three seconds for added movement, brushing out to soften and break up any tendency the hair had to curl.
Smoothed the hairline with a spritz of Carol’s Daughter Macadamia Heat Styling Hairspray on a toothbrush-like finishing tool. Finally, Francis sprayed the entire head and finished with a final half pump of Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer on the curled ends.
WHERE TO FIND IT: Carol’s Daughter products are available at Carol’s Daughter Stores, Carolsdaughter.com, Ulta, Sephora, Macy’s, Belk and Dillard’s stores nationwide.
So are we loving her look or what?

Earlier this week, Karl Lagerfeld and #TeamChanel wowed fashion show goers with a giant quilted bag held between two hula hoops.
I can barely make a circle around my hips with a hula hoop so I would imagine it might be easier to hold on my arm? I’m just wondering when the first basketball bag is making a debut. Just seem silly and not fashionable to me but some consider this innovative. And surely Karl thought it was a grand idea. Continue reading →
I haven’t done a So Haute or So Not in a while. Particially because I haven’t been too too inspired by celebrity looks and nothing has been so disgusted that I had to discuss with you all (except maybe a few of Nicki Minaj‘s choices but that’s not surprising).
But when I saw the pics from the Battleship premiere in Austrailia (on sites like NecoleBitchie & HollywoodLife.com) I knew I had to ask you all what you think of Rihanna’s look. Continue reading →
If you’ve been stuck under some crazy rock or by chance not on twitter stalking what people are doing and where they have been, you might have missed all the tweets from folks who attended the taping for the BET Honors on Saturday. AND Nope I didn’t go but some of my close friends attended so I lived vicariously through their lives. Continue reading →
OMGEEZY! Yesterday when I first heard about this collab in my mind I was already swooning over the images. So when my tweetheart Caprece shared a link (just now) I immediately read, saved, and decided to share with you. My lust for luxury items will not be in vain this year. I am splurging on something … around tax time, phahaha! Continue reading →
Amber Rose was spotted over the weekend at Club Pure in Jacksonville, FL with an unusal headpiece. I can’t say I totally hate the look it’s just really outside of her box. She paired the turban with a white tank, ripped daisy dukes, black tights and a pink clutch. Hmmmm, what do you think! Continue reading →
