Is there really a need for me to describe how much I love Olivia Pope Kerry Washington?!

In my mind, we’ve been friends for such a long time. I’ve been with her for all the great moments and even some of the bad. Like her role in “Ray”. I told her that her hoodrat role in “Save The Last Dance” might have been a bad idea, but I was wrong.

And here she is now, all fabulous and sh*t! Covering all of our favorite fashion magazines decked out in the best designers her money can buy, LOL.

Kerry sat down with ELLE Magazine for an intimate conversation about wanting to be a model as a young girl, getting red-carpet ready, and what she’d be doing if she wasn’t acting.

Can we all scream the word SLAY across the blogosphere?!

Rihanna is the latest celebrity  to cover  Harper’s Bazaar US for their August 2012 publication. Rocking a simple yet chic Calvin Klein dress and a gorge I-must-have-now Neil Lane bracelet. 

The entire editorial, shot by Camilla Akrans, is absolutely ah-mazing. Filled with looks by Tom Ford, Balmain, Alexander Wang, Paco Rabanne and Ralph Lauren, Rihanna proves once again she’s a trendsetter. I so adore her.

In her interview with Harper’s Bazaar (which hit newsstands July 17), she chats about her body, being afraid to fall in love, and recent collaboration with her ex Chris Brown.

On her body: “I don’t know if there’s something going on with my body right now, but I’m eating everything in life! I miss my ass. It just went away! I need a butt. I have an idea of one, but it’s not living up to its full potential right now.”

On falling in love: “When I was in love, I fell so hard. I was really, really, really in love. The way it made me feel was priceless. And in a blink of an eye my whole life changed. Everything that I knew was different. I never thought I’d feel that pain in my life. I’m afraid of feeling that again.”

On her collaboration with Chris Brown: “The fans could have said, ‘We don’t want anything to do with it’. I understood that people had every right to be concerned about it. But I didn’t see it that way because I’m in a different place.”

On being rebellious: “[I'm] rebellious through my music, through my fashion, tattoos, and my hair. I have been conservative in my love life… it’s pretty much nonexistent. If I come across someone who I find really cool, I’ll hang out. But the minute I find that we’re getting too close I just—I don’t let people in.”

In other Ri-Ri news, the pop star is producing and will co-host Styled to Rock, a fashion reality television show that will air on Britain’s Sky Living. 12 unknown fashion designer contestants, which were all hand-selected by Rihanna herself, will be mentored by her and designer Henry Holland, Girls Aloud member Nicola Roberts, and Rihanna’s stylist Lysa Cooper.

The show will last 10 weeks and the designers will be challenged to design looks for the pop star — from stage, red carpet, and photo shoots. Cute twist on Project Runway, aye? Check out the promo video ..

Remember the days were supermodels covered magazines … sheesh, those are far and few in between when picking up a major publication. Luckily the celebrities are still slaying the editorial game and we kinda don’t notice how models are becoming a lost art.

Katy Perry is a favorite of mine. Usually not for fashion. But in her latest interview and editorial with Vogue Italia she gives up a little of herself, and her style.

On showing the real Katy Perry: “I am not afraid to show the real me, the de-glamorized version, because I am not always the Katy Perry who is a bit cartoon-like that everyone relates to. That’s me on stage. But I like to show the entire spectrum of my personality.”

On her favorite fashion trends: “I like small boutiques, handmade garments, ornamental details.”

On her signature outfits: “I say this even if I may sound egocentric: they are my ideas. But, obviously, I am helped by a stylist, Johnny Wujek.”

My number one girl crush in the entire whole wide world, Tracee Ellis Ross, is hitting the magazines heavy since her and that Huxtable kid (aka Malcolm Jamal Warner) began producing ‘Reed Between The Lines‘. The show’s first season did well and Tracee is doing a stand up job keeping her name in our mouths!

The former model and fashion writer dished to UPTOWN Magazine on how she used to create wish boards in high school, what she learned from Diana, and how shy she was until she got a pair of contacts and let her hair go natural.

I don’t know if you’ve heard the rumors yet but I am geeked, stoked, and excited. Adele is slated to be the March 2012 cover girl for Vogue. The American edition! And from the looks of all the editor’s tweets, it’s gonna be more than just her ultra gorge face.

Apparently, Anna Wintour (EIC of Vogue) is shopping for ‘a series of cover-worthy outfits for the size 16 chart-topper to wear on the shoot’ according to WWD.  

This is HUGE HUGE HUGE for the plus-size community. In the publication world, March is the mark for new spring fashions and trends. For Vogue, this is the second most important issue next to the September issue. So it’s a pretty big deal that she was selected. I’m banking on a big fashion spread with tons of fabulous garments from Anna’s favorites – Prabul Gurung, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, and maybe even Michael Kors.

I doubt this will drastically change society’s vision on how fashionable (or not) the woman over a size 10 can be, but it’s definitely a start. The last time a plus-sized star graced the cover of US Vogue was Jennifer Hudson back in 2007. Vogue Italia has been instrumental in breaking those size/color boundaries with both a black issue and a plus size issue. It’s high time the US Vogue catch up!

(Reports also peg Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj in the 2012 list of celebrities for US Vogue.)

Q: Since Anna is looking for ‘custom fit’ designs, do you think it’s unfair? Perhaps she should be using those designers who have a collection for plus size women ready?

I absolutely love progression, don’t you! It’s a great motivator. I’ve been following Jones Magazine since it became a national magazine almost 2 years ago (even plotting my way to contribute for the pub!). Judging by their recent cover they’re on to huge things. What better way to bring in 2012 than a huge mega celebrity on the cover…

Beyoncé covers their new 2011-2012 Arts and Entertainment issue. The issue will celebrate music, fashion, and film and those who have made outstanding contributions. Naturally, Beyonce makes this list. The issue drops on newsstands December 15^th and will also feature their Best-Dressed list. I am crazy geeked and of course swooning over Jones Magazine.

Recently I did a post for Juicy Magazine (10 Other Black Girls Who Rock) and regretfully I should have included Cassandra Ventura. Cassie is smoking hot in IDOL Magazine, a British glossy, for their Illuminati Fall/Winter Issue. Clever title I must say.

She’s shot in lavish jewels, haute couture pieces, paired with fierce hair and makeup. Perhaps this is a sign that she will put down the mic and grab a modeling portfolio because she’s definitely showing tons of model behavior.
