In celebration of another successful New York Fashion Week dozens of editors, bloggers and fashion enthusiasts attended “Relax, Renew and Recharge” NYFW lounge at Inglot Chelsea Studios in NYC.
Hosted by me (!!!), Christen Rochon (DivasandDorks.com) and Kéla Walker (KelasKloset.com) – collectively known as the Digital Sorority group – invited guests experienced live beauty demonstrations and complementary makeovers from Angela’s Hair Studio and INGLOT Cosmetics.
I always love when 2 major brands come together to collaborate. I had an awesome time with the O.P.I an ACE hardware celebrating their new color palette by Clark & Kensington collaboration. Both brands teamed up to give consumers the opportunity to bring their favorite nail colors to life within their home decor. I mean really who doesn’t want to match their nail color to the colors of her bedroom!
I sat and watched The Other Woman thinking this could never happen to me (XO to Popsugar for the fabulous screening party). It’s a story of a very unlikely and unconventional friendship between a wife, the girlfriend and…another girlfriend. Nope, could never be me!
But after watching the movie I realized that this could be me. Besides the fact that each woman had a closet that I swooned for, each character was endearing and lovable.
One of the great joys of my job at Hello Beautiful is hosting exclusive events for black women. Last week, we gathered up 200 of the city’s most influential black women in New York for Hello Beautiful andIman Cosmetics‘ “Girls Night Out” event.
I covered the pink carpet, for the second year in a row, and was surrounded by a slew of Black women who just (dare I say it)… freaking ROCK!
BLACK GIRLS ROCK! is dedicated to honoring exceptional women of color around the world who serve as an inspiration within our communities.
Patti Labelle (Living Legend Award), Queen Latifah (Rock Star Award), Mara Brock Akil (Shot Caller Award), Venus Williams (Star Power Award), community organizer Ameena Matthews (Community Activist Award), ground-breaking ballet dancer Misty Copeland (Young, Gifted & Black Award), and children’s rights activist Marian Wright Edelman (Social Humanitarian) are the distinguished guests of honor that were celebrated at this year’s BLACK GIRLS ROCK! event.
After spending two hours in the cold interviewing and stargazing all the celebrities on the pink carpet, I was anxious to get inside of the theatre to watch the show. I won’t spoil it for you because it was indeed a marvelous event darlings!
I left New Jersey with a sense of purpose, a fearless attitude and I really thought I could sing thanks to Ms. Patti. Her performance was one for the books. I came home, downloaded a few of her songs and I lip-synced for my life in front of my bathroom mirror!
I really hoped you laughed just now. I live for your giggles!
I will be live tweeting during the show on November 3rd, since it’s the day before my BIRTHDAY! *FIST PUMPS & Cartwheels down your computer screen*
