Remember way back when I told y’all I was getting new glasses. I was suppose to blog about them and how great my service was.
Well the service was uber wack and I choose not to blog about it. Meaning I didn’t get paid (see I have morals and ethics!) I did visit the store because I had a gift card and I didn’t want it to go to waste. My third trip to the store was a little better and I even picked out a pair of Ray-ban’s. Since I was so frustrated with this experience I threw the glasses in my I’m-never-gonna-wear-pile and that’s where they stayed.
Well here we are 6 months later and as I pack to move (does fashionable cartwheels) I said let me at least wear them once. Well hunny, I kinda like them a lot. I won’t name the company but if you are smart you will figure it.
Shellac manicures and I officially have a love/hate relationship. I love the fact that it lasted for more than 5 days (lasted 3 1/2 weeks), and the fact that it didn’t chip AT ALL, and the fact that it stayed extra glossy and shiny — up to the day that I soaked them off.
Ok, now on to why I hate them.
The new growth situation. After week 1 it looked like a much needed extremely overdue fill-in, when in fact it was just my natural nails peeking though. My manicurist, Susie, said just go get some pure acetone polish remover and let them soak. No problemo right. Continue reading →
I’ve been obsessed with polishing my nails since I sadly cut manicures out of my budget. My nail polish collection has grown from just 5 to a whopping 59 polishes in the last year. Partly from all the events I attend and more because every time I visit a Duane Reade or a Walgreens I score an amazing new color. One would think I would have every color by now, but it’s soooo many to try.
The season the beauty trends at NYFW were a little different. Designers are using more racy colors in their collections, trying out wild and crazy hair looks, and even a slew of eye catching nail trends.
I spotted a few on the runway that I must try. Some I may have to get the salon to do. My hands aren’t that steady. Check out 5 must try manicures you should try. Continue reading →
I’ve been swooning over bright colors since the first time I saw a pic of Kerry Washington rocking bright red on her voluptuous lips. That was last year. And what do you know — bright lips are still trending in the beauty world as we head into 2012.
I will admit that it can be difficult to find the perfect bright lip. Your skin tone, the shape of your lips, and your eye color all play a big part. Not to mention what you might be wearing that evening. I cringe at the site of red lips, red dress, red nails, red shoes — too much!
I’m no makeup artist but as a consumer and makeup enthusiast, I’ve learned a bit about this trend. Follow my 3 handy tips and trust me you will fall completely in love with bright lips too … Continue reading →
I’ve been nude my entire left. Nude lips that is. And for good reason. My mother and grandmother TOTALLY tainted my vision of ever doing any other color but nude. I can remember as a teen the older women in my family would say “red lips are for whores”. (gasps) Oh my! Clearly I was terrified of the red lip for all of my makeup career. But now that every celebrity is sported it. They all can’t be whores right?
I ventured out to my local Rite Aid last Friday and picked up the cheapest red I could find. I figured if I never wore it again I wouldn’t be totally screwed. Apparently beauty brands have all noticed our new love for the reds because I had plenty to choose from. For $7.39 I found Maybelline’s Red Rivival. I am sold.
OMGeezy I felt uber sexy. I mean normally when I “put face on” I feel pretty spectacular anyway but this red lipstick … watch out now! The red I brought was kinda on the dark side which left me curious about other shades of red. I think I will do a “How To Wear A Red Lip” post.
