Over the weekend I spent some BFF time with my girl Bethany. After dragging totes and boxes up 4 flights of steps (she just moved to NY) we were pooped and ready for our Sunday brunch date even though it was only Saturday. I swear soon enough people who know me will realize I am slow and I need at least 30 mins to wake up and 30 mins to get moving and another 30 mins to get ready. So far only my better half knows this. FINALLY we’re off to the Pink Tea Cup in West Village to meet an old model friend of mine, BJ, who now also blogs too.
I will skip all the horrible details about the Pink Tea Cup. Like our food took over an hour and a half, our grits were soupy, and the waitress kinda sucked (insert bad word here) because I had the most amazing time brunching with my girls that I completely forget about all of the above. It felt good to chat with like minded women about .. any and everything. We really didn’t want to leave. Five hours later we said our final goodbyes inside, outside, and on the corner. BUT not before our master photographer BJ took a group photo of us.
(Above- Me, Bj, and Bethany)
Bj had a pressing date with the massage spot so Bethany and I trekked our way back to the train. Just like typical tourists we spotted tons of other swanky spots for our next blogger brunch social. #FistPump. We made a pit stop at a magazine store and I was in HEAVEN!!
Every Vogue imaginable, Elle, ARISE, ZINK, Flaunt, V, W, I mean you name it … that magazine was there. Unfortunately my wallet and I are still beefing so I suppressed the urge to buy The Last Magazine which stood tall at 21×15 but also over my $10 per mag budget. So I got a few within my monetary limit. I’ve become a fan of Jones Magazine and UPTOWN Magazine. The content is good and the images are decent.
I picked up a Playboy for my better half and surprisingly it ranks up there as a favorite. This edition, The Black Issue, was published in French so I think I will save it as my first project to read once I am finished my Rosetta Stone. The imagery is stunning – bright colors, tiny boobs, and great fashion.
Immediately sadden that the weekend was over a huge rush of happiness took over once Bethany gave me my gift she picked up at the International Beauty Show. My friends are the best and they know I love presents!!! I think I’ll give Christmas gifts this year, LOL!
Kissable Couture is a brand I grew to love when I first started with Iconography Magazine. The founder, Keisha Whitaker (actor Forrest Whitaker’s wife), was the first major interview that I secured. She was humble and patient and really educated me on striving to be the best “me” I could be. I can’t wait to try on my new lips! YUMMY!
